Kucinich Endorses Hardy for Cleveland City Council Ward 11
In an important move, Dennis Kucinich announced that he is endorsing Michael Hardy for the Ward 11 Council Seat, saying, “Michael Hardy has my enthusiastic support. I know the qualities which make for a good councilman. Michael Hardy is honest, energetic, and smart. He is exactly what Ward 11 needs in a councilman.”
Kucinich becomes the third key westside Democrat, following former City Council President Jay Westbrook and former Council Candidate Donna Woods, to endorse Hardy. The Kucinich endorsement is particularly notable because there are candidates actively seeking his endorsement. This confirms that Hardy is considered the one person who can bring the needed change to the Ward. “Ward 11 is Dennis Kucinich’s home, and he knows this ward and is dedicated to its improvement. I am honored to be endorsed by Mr. Kucinich,” said Hardy.
Hardy is excited over the endorsement and is proud of the fact that those individuals and organizations that took the time to talk to the candidates for the Ward 11 council seat almost unanimously endorsed him. As for his opinion regarding Kucinich, Hardy said, “I have always admired Dennis Kucinich for his support of policies that were beneficial to the working people, like those in Ward 11. In fact, much of my approach to transparent government and seeing economic development through the eyes of the everyday man mirrors Dennis Kucinich’s approach to policy.”
Michael Hardy is a lifetime resident of Ward 11 and a lifetime member of Second Calvary Baptist Church. A graduate of John Marshall High School and Cleveland State University, an an-internationally-experienced educator, former school director, and past president of the West Park Community Coalition, Hardy currently sits on the Westown Community Development Corporation Board and is a Ward 11 Precinct Committee Member. This is the first time Michael Hardy has run for political office. For more information about Michael Hardy and his Campaign for City Council, go to his campaign website at www.hardyforcle.com.

Cleveland, OH- - - On the heels of his successful primary campaign for Ward 11 City Council, Michael Hardy continues to gather support. Hardy had already picked up endorsements from The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cleveland.com, The Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus, and Our Revolution Ohio. Recently, Hardy picked up endorsements from his former primary campaign opponent Donna Woods and from Jay Westbrook, former President of Cleveland City Council. The Westbrook and Woods’ endorsements continue the trend of Hardy picking up support, demonstrating that his agenda, the Hardy Plan, is attracting people and groups concerned about policy issues that impact Ward 11 and the City.
In endorsing Hardy, Jay Westbrook said, “…His long-term dedication to this community separates him from his opponent.” Westbrook spent years on Cleveland City Council and knows the area and the people well. “His vision and community engagement will yield positive results.”
Donna Woods, who came in third in the Primary, said: “Hardy and I talked during the Primary, and I was impressed with his knowledge and dedication to the community. I am convinced that Michael Hardy will be a great representative for Ward 11.”
For his part, Hardy is excited about this support. “I am a first-time candidate, and the fact that two people, local people, who I respect very much, show such confidence in me is inspiring. I will continue to work hard to win this election so together we can make Ward 11 a better place.”
